Haynes 25 is a solid-solution strengthened Co–Cr–Ni–W superalloy qualified to AMS 5537 (Sheet/Strip)​ and AMS 5759 (Bar/Forging). It remains the industry-standard cobalt alloy for legacy aircraft engine MRO, high-temperature springs & seals (to 650–815°C design), static oxidizing service to 1040°C (1900°F), and ASTM F90 biomedical implant applications.

3. Material Condition & Melting Practice

• Melting Route:​ Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) + Electro-Slag Remelting (ESR) — guarantees low S/P (S ≤ 0.010 % typical), tight W (14–16 %) and La-free composition (differentiator vs. Haynes 188), homogeneous carbide distribution.

• Delivery Condition:​ Solution annealed (1175–1230°C, soak per section → water quench or high-velocity air blast for thin gauge).

  Haynes 25 is not precipitation-hardenable; high spring strength achieved by cold drawing only.

• Grain Size (Typical):​ ASTM 4–7 (sheet), ASTM 3–6 (forging stock)

• Surface Options:

  • Sheet/Plate: Descaled + pickled / Bright annealed

  • Bar: Black (as-forged), Rough turned (peeled), or Centerless ground
