Applications:

Nickel 200 and Nickel 201, as pure nickel materials, have good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. At temperatures above 300°C (572°F), Nickel 201 with its lower carbon content has lower strength and work hardening rate, but higher ductility, making it more suitable than Nickel 200 for high-temperature applications. These materials are widely used in the automotive and chemical industries.

Specific applications include:

● Food production industry due to their acid resistance, such as in the processing of cooling brine, fatty acids, and fruit juices, as well as in alkaline, neutral salt solutions, and organic acid-resistant environments

● Manufacturing of fluorine-related containers, such as fluorine production containers and containers for the reaction of fluorocarbons (CFCs)

● Storage and transportation of phenol

● Production and handling of caustic soda

● Manufacturing of synthetic fibers and soaps

● Production of hydrochloric acid and chlorination of hydrocarbons (such as benzene, methane, and ethane)

● Production of vinyl chloride monomer due to their resistance to dry chlorine gas and hydrochloric acid at high temperatures

● Electrical and electronic components

● Electrode contacts and current conductors in batteries

● Current conductors in alkaline fuels

Excellent Corrosion Resistance:

Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 have excellent corrosion resistance to various corrosive media, especially hydrofluoric acid and alkalis. They not only exhibit outstanding corrosion resistance under reducing conditions, but also have some corrosion resistance in oxidizing media once a passive oxide layer is formed. Furthermore, due to their high nickel content, these materials also perform well in highly concentrated alkaline solutions and salt baths.

Due to the lower carbon content of Nickel 201, it can almost completely avoid intergranular corrosion even at temperatures above 315°C (599°F). However, in alkaline solutions, the chlorate concentration must be kept at a relatively low level, as it can cause corrosion through the formation of chlorides.

The corrosion resistance of Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 to inorganic acids can change depending on temperature, solution concentration, and ventilation conditions. For example, their corrosion resistance is stronger in unventilated acid environments; they also have good corrosion resistance in acid, alkaline, and neutral salt solutions (except for oxidizing salt solutions); and at room temperature, both materials have good resistance to dry gas corrosion. Nickel 201 can be used in dry chlorine gas and hydrochloric acid environments up to 550°C (1022°F).

Nickel 201 is a pure nickel material that, due to its restricted carbon content of no more than 0.02%, should be used instead of Nickel 200 at temperatures above 315°C (600°F). This material has been certified for use in pressure vessels with operating temperatures between -10°C and 600°C (14°F and 1112°F).
